About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Frontend Developer to join our dynamic team remotely, with occasional travel to Manchester. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in modern web technologies and user interface development, particularly within the context of UK central government projects. This role involves leading the technical delivery of high-impact government programs, developing secure, accessible, and user-centric digital services. As a Lead Frontend Developer, you will guide and mentor frontend development teams, make critical architectural decisions, and remain actively involved in coding and project delivery. Your expertise will help shape innovative solutions that meet stringent security and accessibility standards, contributing significantly to our clients' digital transformation initiatives. Qualifications To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Eligibility for BPSS clearance is essential.
  • Proven experience delivering projects within UK central government environments.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Hands-on experience with Node.js and frontend frameworks such as ExpressJS or similar.
  • Experience in building and consuming REST APIs.
  • Deep understanding of responsive design principles and accessibility standards (WCAG).
  • Familiarity with frontend testing tools like Selenium, Postman, aXe-Core, and Wave.
  • Experience setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines, particularly with GitLab or similar tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a collaborative and delivery-focused mindset.
  • Prior experience working on UK central government projects is essential.

Candidates should also demonstrate leadership capabilities, problem-solving skills, and a strong commitment to best practices in software development. Responsibilities The key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Providing technical leadership throughout the entire frontend development lifecycle, ensuring high-quality delivery.
  • Designing, developing, testing, and deploying secure, accessible, and responsive user interfaces.
  • Championing accessibility best practices by utilizing tools such as aXe-Core, Wave, and assistive technologies like JAWS, VoiceOver, and Dragon.
  • Building and maintaining web applications using JavaScript, Node.js, HTML, CSS, and ExpressJS.
  • Implementing performance optimization techniques and ensuring cross-browser compatibility.
  • Overseeing GitLab pipelines and adhering to CI/CD best practices for frontend deployment.
  • Collaborating closely with designers, product owners, and stakeholders to define project requirements and deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Mentoring and supporting frontend developers, fostering knowledge-sharing and professional development within the team.
  • Promoting best practices in clean coding, testing, accessibility, and agile project management methodologies.
