Digital Design and Communications Assistant (Volunteer)
Job Description
Posted on: January 12, 2026
Role: Digital Design & Communications Assistant (Volunteer) Flexible | Part Time| Remote | Volunteer
About Novar Network
Novar Network is a newly established social enterprise currently in its early formation stage. We are building our structure, programmes, and public presence from the ground up. This means things are evolving, sometimes fast, sometimes messy, and often exciting. We are honest about being new, and we are intentional about growing carefully and sustainably.
We are now looking for a Digital Design & Communications Assistant (Volunteer) to support our visual identity, online presence, and communications as the organisation takes shape.
The Role
This is a flexible, fully remote, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys designing, experimenting, and helping an organisation look coherent and professional as it grows.
You will work closely with the Director and relevant associates, supporting a wide range of design and digital tasks. At this stage, the work is general rather than highly specialised.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing social media posts for events, announcements, and organisational updates
- Designing posters, banners, and simple promotional materials for programmes and events
- Supporting updates and basic edits to the Novar Network website
- Helping maintain visual consistency across platforms
- Assisting with design needs for reports, presentations, and internal documents when required
- Collaborating with programme and communications teams to translate ideas into visuals
What We Are Looking For
- Basic to intermediate skills in graphic design tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe tools, Figma, or similar)
- Comfort with editing or updating websites (WordPress experience is a plus, but not required)
- A good eye for layout, clarity, and visual storytelling
- Willingness to adapt as the organisation evolves
- Reliability and responsiveness; showing up matters more than perfection
You do not need to be a professional designer. We care more about commitment, initiative, and the ability to learn quickly in a real-world setting.
Time Commitment
- Flexible and part-time and fully remote
- Expected to contribute consistently rather than intensively
- Ideal for someone who can commit regularly over a few months
What You Will Gain
- Direct experience shaping the public image of a growing social enterprise
- Close collaboration with leadership during the organisation’s foundational stage
- A meaningful portfolio of real-world design work
- Space to grow creatively while contributing to a mission-driven organisation
- Reference and recommendation letters and employment support
Important Note
This is a volunteer, fully reomte role in an early-stage organisation. Please do not apply if you are looking for a highly structured environment, immediate financial rewards, or a fully established team. This role suits someone who is comfortable with ambiguity and motivated by building something from the ground up.
