We’re supporting an innovative, fast-moving founding team. They’re building an innovative B2C platform with lots of partnerships already signed up!
They are looking for a Backend Engineer with strong experience with mainly Typescript/NodeJS, and other Backend Golang or C# languages are a plus - with a startup mindset. This can be a remote role, giving you autonomy while you design, develop, and maintain the robust backend services and infrastructure that power their platform.
You’ll work closely with the founding team to build scalable, secure, and high-performance systems that deliver an exceptional user experience.
What You’ll Be Doing as a JavaScript Developer, Contractor, Backend focused | TypeScript, Node, AWS and Docker | Disruptive Start-up, B2C | Rate £550-675/day (Outside) | 6-months | UK remote
- Build and evolve scalable backend systems and APIs that power our web and mobile experiences.
- Design data processing pipelines that are efficient, reliable, and easy to maintain.
- Keep our infrastructure secure, high-performing, and ready to handle growth.
- Tune databases and choose storage solutions that keep things fast and cost-effective.
- Maintain strong automated test coverage to ensure reliability.
- Collaborate with frontend and mobile teams to create seamless, well-documented API integrations.
- Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting so we spot issues before our users do.
- Shape the technical direction of the product through architectural input and best practice setting.
- Review code, share knowledge, and support the growth of other engineers.
- Explore and introduce new tools or frameworks that can improve our stack.
- Work closely with product and design to turn ideas into smooth, production-ready features.
- Continuously refine our development workflows to make shipping faster and more reliable.

- You’re an experienced backend engineer with a track record of delivering production-ready systems.
- You’re fluent in at least one modern programming language such as TypeScript, Python, C#, Java, or Go.
- You’re comfortable working with a major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or similar).
- You’ve worked extensively with both relational and NoSQL databases.
- You treat automated testing as a non-negotiable part of development.
- You know your way around RESTful APIs, microservices, and Docker-based deployments.
- You understand how to make systems fast, reliable, and scalable and you have the strategies to do it.
- You have hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and test automation.
- You can untangle complex problems and explain your solutions clearly to technical and non-technical teammates.
- You thrive in agile, fast-moving environments and enjoy contributing beyond your core role.
