UX Designer/UX Researcher – Employee Experience

We are seeking a UX/UXR Designer to support employee-facing digital products and operational tools for a major airline. This is a hands-on design role focused on improving the systems employees use to do their jobs every day. We’re looking for someone who has experience designing complex internal or enterprise tools and is comfortable conducting their own research and usability testing to inform design decisions.

Candidates may be based in Chicago or Houston. Remote candidates (US-based only/no sponsorship required) may also be considered with highly relevant airline, employee experience, or operational technology experience.

Top Skills & Experience

  • Strong UX Design experience across complex digital products, workflows, or enterprise systems.
  • Experience designing employee-facing, internal, operational, or workflow-based tools.
  • Ability to own the design process from discovery and user flows through wireframes, prototypes, and detailed interaction design.
  • Hands-on research experience, including employee/user interviews, usability testing, concept validation, and synthesizing findings into design decisions.
  • Strong product and systems thinking with the ability to balance user needs, business goals, and technical/operational constraints.

What You'll Do

  • Design and improve digital tools supporting employees across operational and corporate environments.
  • Partner with employees and stakeholders to understand workflows, pain points, workarounds, and unmet needs.
  • Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and detailed designs for web and mobile experiences.
  • Conduct usability testing, interviews, and concept validation to evaluate and iterate on solutions.
  • Work closely with Product, Engineering, Research, and business stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Help simplify complex and legacy workflows while working within established design systems and technical constraints.
  • Clearly communicate design rationale, research findings, tradeoffs, and recommendations to stakeholders.

What We're Looking For

  • Professional UX or Product Design experience with a strong portfolio
  • Experience with internal tools, employee experiences, enterprise software, or complex operational workflows
  • Strong interaction design, information architecture, prototyping, and systems-thinking skills
  • Experience conducting research as part of the design process
  • Experience designing across web and/or mobile products
  • Ability to work independently and navigate ambiguity
  • Strong stakeholder communication and collaboration skills

Preferred: Experience within airlines, aviation, Tech Ops, logistics, manufacturing, supply chain, field operations, HR technology, workforce tools, or other operationally complex environments. Experience with AI-enabled products, native mobile/iOS, or enterprise platforms such as Workday, ServiceNow, or Oracle is also a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Location: Chicago, IL or Houston, TX; highly relevant remote candidates may be considered
  • Work Authorization: Must be eligible to work in the U.S. (no H-1B, no C2C)
  • Duration: Long-term contract, ongoing with no end date
  • Portfolio: Required for consideration
  • Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, and 401(k) after 60 days, plus applicable PTO and sick leave per state/local law
  • Pay Range: Up to $65 per hour (W2)
