About The Role We are seeking a talented Frontend Software Engineer II to join our Signup & Activation team, a vital part of our Growth Engineering organization. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and optimizing the frontend experiences that drive user acquisition and activation across our brands. Your work will focus on creating seamless, high-performing web interfaces that convert visitors into engaged users by reducing friction and enhancing first impressions. Collaborating closely with product managers, designers, data analysts, and fellow engineers, you will own well-defined projects from conception to deployment, ensuring that solutions are scalable, accessible, and user-centric. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a growth-minded engineer to deepen technical expertise, influence Scribd’s user growth strategies, and evolve toward greater autonomy in frontend development. Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional experience in building and shipping customer-facing frontend applications
• Proficiency in modern TypeScript and JavaScript, with a focus on React
• Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks, preferably Next.js
• Familiarity with Ruby on Rails and its ecosystem
• Strong understanding of frontend fundamentals: state management, component architecture, accessibility, testing, and UI quality
• Experience integrating frontends with APIs such as REST and GraphQL
• Knowledge of experimentation, A/B testing, and personalization systems
• Ability to craft interactive, detail-oriented, and UX-polished experiences
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in remote work environments
• Experience working with shared codebases, monorepos, or design systems
• Comfort with AI tools like Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor to accelerate development

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize frontend components to enhance user acquisition and activation funnels
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver high-quality features
• Implement responsive, accessible, and engaging web experiences that align with business goals
• Participate in experimentation-driven development, including A/B testing and personalization strategies
• Maintain and improve shared UI libraries, component systems, and code standards
• Ensure code quality through rigorous testing, code reviews, and adherence to best practices
• Communicate progress, challenges, and solutions clearly within remote teams
• Leverage AI tools to streamline development workflows, debugging, and innovative problem-solving
• Contribute to continuous improvement of frontend architecture and performance
