Job Description

Posted on: July 8, 2026

Tech Pipeline is currently supporting a Birmingham based firm that is expanding its operations through a series of technical transitions. We help companies like this fix the friction in the middle of their business processes, where manual workarounds and broken data pipelines slow everything down. As a Junior Web Developer, you will work within our remote team to identify and resolve the specific technical gaps that prevent information from moving smoothly between systems. About the role At Tech Pipeline, we deal with the messy reality of growing tech stacks. Often, a company grows faster than its internal tools can handle, leading to backlogs and manual reconciliation. In this role, you will not be building abstract frameworks or attending long strategy sessions. Instead, you will be looking at where the data goes bad and why approval chains are stuck. You might be asked to fix a broken routing rule, update a reporting table, or trace a transaction through multiple logs to find out why it did not reach the source of truth. This is a fully remote position where the focus is on concrete technical fixes that help operators do their jobs without unnecessary hurdles. What you will be doing

  • Trace data errors by reading system logs and identifying the exact point where a routing rule failed.
  • Update and maintain small scripts in JavaScript to automate simple data transfers between internal tools.
  • Fix layout issues and update HTML or CSS for internal dashboards used by operations teams.
  • Compare records across different databases to identify why specific numbers are drifting between systems.
  • Document every fix and configuration change so the client team can eventually run the system without us.
  • Set up basic API hooks to move data from email chains into central databases.
  • Monitor backlogs to ensure that new code successfully handles the edge cases we identified during the discovery phase.
  • Assist senior developers in rebuilding reporting pipelines to ensure finance teams have accurate monthly data.

What we need from you

  • Basic proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript gained through projects, coursework, or independent study.
  • A fundamental understanding of how databases are structured and how to write basic SQL queries.
  • Clear technical writing skills to explain what was broken and how it was fixed in a way that others can follow.
  • A high level of attention to detail and the patience to look through logs until the root cause of a bug is found.
  • The ability to work independently in a remote environment while keeping tasks organized.
  • Willingness to learn the technical reality of how work moves through a business, rather than just writing code in a vacuum.
  • A methodical approach to solving problems, starting with the logs and configs before guessing at solutions.

Helpful background

  • Previous experience in a role involving data entry, customer support, or general office operations.
  • Basic familiarity with common business systems like ERPs or CRMs and how they store information.
  • A personal project or code repository that demonstrates your ability to build a functional tool or website.
  • Experience using Git or other version control tools to manage changes to a codebase.

What the role offers

  • A fully remote workplace that values your direct contribution and respects your time.
  • Practical experience working on real business problems for a client currently expanding its operations.
  • Direct mentorship from developers who value ground truth and clear, functional code over buzzwords.
  • A culture that avoids unnecessary meetings, preferring clear documentation and weekly updates.
  • Exposure to a wide variety of technical environments and tools across different business sectors.
  • This is a permanent, full-time paid position with a salary that is attractive and competitive for an entry-level role.

Working at Tech Pipeline We believe that technical work is most effective when it is grounded in the actual experience of the people using the systems. We do not stay for long-term retainers or offer vague advice. We fix the problem, stay through the first month of live operation to ensure the solution holds, and then we hand everything over to the client. Our remote culture relies on excellent documentation and clear, async communication. We spend our time reading logs and tracing problems rather than sitting in meetings. You will be expected to contribute to this culture by being precise in your updates and staying close to the technical reality of every task.
