PEAK is a trusted partner of The Home Depot and Bunnings, two of the world’s leading home improvement retailers. Our business model aligns strongly with Bunnings’ commitment to serving both DIY and trade customers, and our high-quality products are available throughout Bunnings’ extensive retail network.

We are continuing to experience strong growth and are pleased to announce an immediate opening for a Lead Engineer. Based in Melbourne and reporting to the Vice President, Product Development & Quality, this role plays an integral part in leading the design of new products and oversees the continuous improvement and innovation of existing products.

This role is primarily remote, with occasional travel to the office and limited out-of-city travel as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of new products and oversee continuous improvement and innovation of existing products

  • Ensure compliance with Australian and New Zealand Standards (AS/NZS), the National Construction Code (NCC), New Zealand Building Code (NZBC), environmental standards, and other applicable regulations for all products
  • Oversee product and process improvement including simplifying process design, and trailing more cost-effective materials
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with teams across marketing, supply chain, manufacturing, inventory, and quality to ensure product designs meet customer, market, and business needs
  • Research and monitor existing product base and industry developments to identify new product opportunities
  • Investigate and resolve field performance issues, providing engineering recommendations and corrective actions to improve customer experience and product reliability
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to future team members as the Australia‑based engineering function grows, supporting knowledge transfer and capability-building
  • Perform other duties within the scope of the role as may be assigned from time to time by management

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years’ product development experience in consumer products
  • 2+ years’ experience supervising or mentoring engineers or technical staff
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and/or CAD engineering software
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated experience in consumer product design and development
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a positive, collaborative attitude
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) credential with Engineers Australia preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent tertiary engineering qualification)
  • Full working rights in Australia
