Freelance Designer

This role involves developing the creative concept, layout, and functional design for a children's game center catering to ages 0–10 in Portimão, Algarve. The objective is to deliver a unique, premium, and experiential environment that stands out from local competitors, appealing to both families and tourists. The space must be playful, visually distinct, and practical for artisanal or local production, with clear divisions by age group, a focus on safety, and ease of daily maintenance. The designer will be responsible for translating ideas into actionable plans and visualizations that can be executed by local carpenters and suppliers. Deliverables

• 2D layout of the entire play space, clearly indicating zones by age group
• Simple 3D representations using SketchUp or similar software
• Mood boards and visual references to guide the design direction
• A concise written concept outlining the vision and key features
• Material and construction guidelines suitable for local production, delivered in PDF and, if possible, SKP/DWG formats
• Drawings and documentation tailored for use by local carpenters and suppliers

Requirements

• Proven experience designing commercial or children's spaces, with a strong portfolio demonstrating creativity and practical construction knowledge
• Proficiency in SketchUp, AutoCAD, Rhino, or equivalent design tools
• Ability to develop thematic zones that are both engaging and safe for children
• Understanding of safety standards and best practices for children's environments
• Strong communication skills to articulate concepts and collaborate with local artisans and suppliers
• Attention to detail in planning for daily usage, maintenance, and parental supervision
• Ability to work remotely and deliver all required documentation in usable formats
• Knowledge of materials and construction methods suitable for artisanal/local production is highly desirable
