Freelance Illustrator – Children's Book Project

This opportunity is for a creative illustrator to bring a 24-page children's book to life, designed to help children reduce their worries. The project requires whimsical and soft full-color illustrations featuring four main characters, as well as a front cover design. The book will be sized at 8.5x11 inches and is intended for self-publication on Amazon KDP. The client is based in Chicago, but the work is fully remote. The ideal candidate will have a passion for children's literature and the ability to create engaging, expressive artwork that resonates with young readers. The project deadline is June 1, 2026. Responsibilities

• Create full-color, whimsical, and soft illustrations for a 24-page children's book
• Design a captivating front cover that aligns with the book's theme and target audience
• Develop consistent character designs for four main characters throughout the book
• Collaborate closely with the client to ensure illustrations match the story's tone and message
• Prepare artwork files to meet Amazon KDP self-publishing specifications
• Deliver all illustrations and cover design by the agreed deadline

Skills And Requirements

• Proven experience illustrating children's books or similar projects
• Strong portfolio showcasing whimsical, soft, and expressive illustration styles
• Proficiency in digital illustration tools (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Procreate)
• Ability to interpret and visually represent written narratives for young audiences
• Excellent communication skills and responsiveness to feedback

• Open to remote collaboration; location in Chicago is not required
