This role offers an opportunity to shape the digital presence of a pioneering research initiative focused on the intersection of security, AI, and visual technologies. The Social Media Manager will be responsible for amplifying the project’s impact by curating and creating content that communicates complex research findings to a broad audience. The position involves developing a cohesive brand voice, revitalizing dormant channels, and fostering community engagement across Instagram, Mastodon, and LinkedIn. The successful candidate will work closely with the project team to highlight achievements, promote public conversation, and support the dissemination of research insights from October 2025 to June 2026. Deliverables
- Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy tailored to each platform (Instagram, Mastodon, LinkedIn)
- Audit and leverage existing content from five years of research, including multimedia materials
- Create and schedule engaging posts that translate research outcomes into accessible narratives
- Build and maintain a consistent brand voice and visual identity across all channels
- Plan and manage a detailed content calendar for the project duration
- Grow and engage the online community, responding to comments and fostering dialogue
- Track analytics, monitor performance, and provide monthly reports with actionable recommendations
- Collaborate with the project team to ensure alignment with research goals and public engagement objectives
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience managing and growing social media accounts, preferably in the cultural, academic, or research sectors
- Strong content creation skills, including basic graphic design and video/audio editing
- Proficiency with analytics tools and ability to interpret data for performance improvement
- Excellent written communication skills and ability to translate complex topics into accessible content
- Experience revitalizing dormant accounts and building engaged online communities
- Familiarity with the cultural or academic sector is highly desirable
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt to campaign phases (4–8 hours per week, flexible)
- Based in or able to collaborate with teams in the Netherlands is a plus
