About UpMetrics

At UpMetrics, we're building a world where impact organizations have the knowledge, tools, and connections to achieve their missions. Our mission is to help organizations accelerate impact through innovative technology and community, connecting funders and mission-driven organizations with the capital, insights, and relationships they need to succeed.

To deliver on this mission, we provide an impact reporting platform in combination with expert services. Together, these products empower organizations to collect, analyze, and learn from their data—gaining insights and sharing their stories to inspire change.

As a Sr. Product Designer, you will lead end-to-end design across our core platform, from research through implementation. You’ll evolve existing features and shape brand-new, 0-to-1 features and product lines, with work that touches the entire platform. Your research will directly shape product strategy through a deep understanding of our market, user needs, and behaviors. Throughout the development cycle, you will partner closely with a product manager and engineering lead as a true peer, delivering work as part of a nimble development pod. We are looking for a highly engaged, self-organizing, high-autonomy designer who wants to take genuine ownership of their work and see it through.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to get more visibility into the business of product development and form product design ideas before the product development lifecycle begins, while remaining focused on product design and knowing your work will have an impact on the world.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct user research, usability testing, and synthesis to inform product decisions
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs
  • Define and implement UX/UI patterns and design systems
  • Collaborate with PM and the design team on product strategy and execution
  • Collaborate with the engineering team on product development, building and maintaining design artifacts
  • Drive user research, design sprints, and workshops to solve complex problems
  • Drive the use of personas in product development
  • Develop and maintain a deep domain knowledge of our market and its personas

About You

Required qualifications:

  • A degree in Design or related field (Cognitive Science or Psychology, Computer science/Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) / Human Factors, Information Science / Information Design.)
  • 6+ years of product design experience
  • Experience designing B2B or enterprise SaaS products
  • Comfortable owning the full arc, from discovery and research through to shipped execution, including running research yourself across a range of methodologies
  • Strong visual design skills, typography, color, and hierarchy, at a level that raises the bar for the whole product rather than matching what's already there
  • Deep Figma fluency, including component libraries, auto-layout, and developer-ready handoff
  • Comfortable using AI tools like LLMs, Claude Code, Codex, etc. in your design practice and look for where they can reshape it
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with practical experience partnering with product managers and engineers in an agile environment
  • Experience working directly with engineering in a scrum process

Not required but what would make you stand out:

  • Practical experience designing products that involve the use of collecting, analyzing, reporting, and sharing data and insights
  • Experience designing AI features with attention to explainability, confidence signals, and graceful failure.
  • You follow your nose: when a design decision or research finding catches your attention, you ask why, work backwards to the real problem, and look for a better answer.

UpMetrics is committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and accessible workplace where everyone, regardless of background or ability, can do their best work. If you require reasonable accommodations at any stage of the application or interview process, please contact the People Operations Team at careers@upmetrics.com.

Research shows that while men apply to jobs when they meet an average of 60% of the criteria, women and underrepresented individuals only apply when they meet 100% of them. We believe that people of color, people from working class backgrounds, women, and LGBTQ+ people must be centered in the work we do. Hence, we strongly encourage applications from people with these identities, or who are members of other marginalized communities. If you think you have what it takes, possess transferable skills, are quick to learn, but don’t necessarily satisfy every requirement or meet every qualification, we would still love to hear from you!

Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. UpMetrics is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time.

We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans.
