About The Role
We are seeking an experienced UI/UX Designer to join our team remotely, supporting U.S. Army modernization initiatives. This role requires an active Secret security clearance and offers the opportunity to influence the design of next-generation software capabilities that directly impact military operations. As a UI/UX Designer, you will work closely with Product Owners, Software Engineers, Program Managers, and Army stakeholders to create intuitive, mission-ready user experiences. Your primary responsibility will be translating complex operational workflows, command and control processes, and mission requirements into user-centered interfaces that are both powerful and easy to use in real-world Army environments. Leveraging commercial UX best practices and human-centered design principles, you will ensure that cloud-native, AI-enabled software is not only functional but also trustworthy and efficient for operational users. Your work will help enable faster decision-making, improve operational awareness, and enhance overall mission effectiveness across enterprise cloud and Tactical Edge Compute environments.
Qualifications
- Active Secret security clearance required.
- Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a UX/UI Designer or similar role supporting complex software products.
- Proficiency in designing modern web-based applications using user-centered design principles.
- Demonstrated ability to translate ambiguous operational requirements into intuitive user experiences.
- Expertise in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or equivalent.
- Experience collaborating with Product Owners, Software Engineers, and Agile teams.
- Strong understanding of user-centered design, interaction design, visual design, accessibility, and responsive design principles.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and SDLC processes.
- Excellent visual design skills with attention to usability, clarity, and information hierarchy.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, capable of articulating design concepts to technical teams and stakeholders.
- Lead UX/UI design efforts for next-generation software supporting U.S. Army modernization projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Owners, Program Managers, Engineers, Cybersecurity, and Army stakeholders to define user experience objectives and standards.
- Conduct user research, interviews, workshops, and usability testing with Army personnel to understand operational workflows and decision-making needs.
- Translate complex operational processes into intuitive user journeys, task flows, information architectures, and interaction designs.
- Create wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, prototypes, and detailed UI specifications for development teams.
- Develop and maintain scalable design systems, including reusable components, typography, color standards, and accessibility guidelines.
- Design interfaces that visualize operational data, geospatial information, Common Operating Pictures, and AI-enabled decision support tools.
- Partner with Software Engineers to ensure designs are feasible, performant, and aligned with secure cloud-native architecture standards.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies such as Sprint Planning, Backlog Grooming, Reviews, and Retrospectives.
- Perform usability testing and incorporate user feedback into iterative design improvements.
- Create UX artifacts including personas, journey maps, workflow diagrams, storyboards, and documentation.
- Support demonstrations, briefings, pilot deployments, and operational evaluations through compelling visualizations and prototypes.
- Establish and promote scalable UX practices, standards, and reusable assets for ongoing and future projects.
- Competitive salary within the range of $92,000 to $158,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
