In the latest episode of Skeleton Crew, the pirate port of Port Borgo is not just a backdrop but a treasure trove of Star Wars lore. Among the array of ships, one particularly caught the attention of fans: a sleek, white vessel that sparked discussions about its origins. This ship is linked to the legendary designer Colin Cantwell, known for his early concept art which inspired iconic ships like the Millennium Falcon.
The Millennium Eagle as it appeared in Skeleton Crew’s second episode.
While initially thought to be purely Cantwell's design, it turns out this ship is a hybrid, combining elements of his work with the Eagle Lander from Space: 1999. This mash-up was brought to life by former ILM modeler Bill George, who was approached to contribute to a project celebrating classic sci-fi models. George expressed his excitement about the ship's cameo in the show, noting how the design's history reflects nearly 50 years of Star Wars evolution.
As of now, the ship has not been officially named within the Star Wars universe, leaving fans to wonder if it will receive a playful designation reflecting its unique lineage. This fascinating twist in design history showcases how elements from the past can resurface in new narratives, enriching the Star Wars lore we all cherish.
