A Concert Hall to Bridge History
SLAS Architekci has unveiled a gleaming new concert hall in the Polish city of Jastrzębie-Zdrój. This project serves as a contemporary extension for the State Music School, intertwining the city’s unique history as both a resort town and an industrial hub. Positioned between the old resort district and newer industrial areas, the concert hall enhances the school’s facilities and strengthens community ties.

SLAS Architekci’s Space for Education and Culture
Designed as a multi-purpose space, the concert hall supports the educational mission of the school while contributing to the broader cultural life of the region. It boasts natural acoustics tailored for musical performances, providing an optimal environment for students. The venue hosts numerous concerts and city events, becoming a vital cultural hub. Additional amenities include a café and a foyer that doubles as an art gallery, with a public square in front for community gatherings.

Material Choices: Form Meets Function
The architects selected concrete as the primary material for its structural, acoustic, and aesthetic properties. The exposed reinforced concrete walls, finished with glaze paint, eliminate the need for extra acoustic cladding. The acoustically optimized wave motif is reflected in the steel facade, enhancing sound dispersion and creating visual continuity between the building’s exterior and interior. The reflective qualities of the steel help the building blend with its surroundings, ensuring durability against vandalism and the test of time.
