The American Federation for Children’s Creative Assistant will play a key role in creating content that advances AFC’s mission and expands our reach and maintaining AFC’s visual and digital presence across platforms. This position reports to the Creative Director. It is an early-career role ideal for an ambitious, talented individual looking for a role that can grow with them.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize graphic design skills to create accurate, visually appealing and compelling materials, including but not limited to social media graphics, email templates, infographics, banners, one sheets, presentations, website banners and headers, microbrands for events or initiatives, and other assets.
- Reporting to the Creative Director, collaborate across AFC’s Communications team to respond to and fulfill design and creative requests; own completion of tasks and adherence to brand standards across our work.
- Stay informed about design trends, best practices, and emerging technologies, making recommendations for integration into the organization's strategies.
- Learn and maintain awareness of the public policy space in which AFC operates and be aware of AFC's organizational perspective and messaging on these issues.
- Maintain and regularly update brand systems including a creative library and brand portal.
- Manage and maintain creative project planning in work management platforms.
- Serve as a liaison between staff, vendors, and the internal communications team, and creative resources.
Preferred Skills:
- Social platform setup and content, website or landing page design, and email campaign design.
- Basic web proficiency, including Wordpress, Elementor, SquareSpace, and AI coding and development tools.
- Graphic design proficiency, including the Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator), PowerPoint, Canva, etc.
- Alignment with AFC’s mission to empower families, especially lower-income families, with the freedom to choose the best K-12 education for their children.
- 2+ years of work experience
