Taxonomist Metadata Architect

Remote work to be done in EST or PST time zone.

Looking for an Information Architect / Taxonomist to develop a taxonomy and metadata set and framework for internal knowledge.

Qualifications:

• 5-7 years of experience in creating and maintaining enterprise taxonomies and metadata
• Background in information science, information architecture, or library science
• Ability to analyze user needs, content, and data to identify patterns and requirements
• Experience in creating and maintaining enterprise taxonomies and metadata
• Experience with data modeling to create logical structures for information
• Experience in training stakeholders on taxonomy processes and managing change related to information architecture
• Experience with Smartlogic preferred (Smartlogic knowledge is preferred, but another taxonomy tool (e.g., Pool Party) is also fine.

Job duties:

• Create structured taxonomies, controlled vocabularies, and metadata schemas for internal content and data, to ensure logical categorization and consistency
• Partner with data and analytics teams, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to assess, implement, and maintain/extend a taxonomy and metadata framework
• Recommend updates to the current content management system to integrate the taxonomy and metadata framework (tooling, user experience, etc.)
• Create documentation for onboarding new taxonomies and training content admins.
