About the Role:Title: UX Designer
Location: Remote
Typical Day in the Role
• Purpose of the Team: The purpose of this team is supporting the web and UX design for a high visibility gaming studio website.
• Key projects: This role will be assigned UX design work ad hoc depending on their strengths. The work could be in the accounts space with profile/player facing features, could support commerce, could support game pages if the candidate has great visual design skills, etc. If the candidate has great graphic design skills they will be using those during the role.
Typical task breakdown and operating rhythm: The role will consist of 15% meetings, 85% heads down. A typical day for a Designer involves collaborating with cross-functional teams—such as product managers, engineers, and other designers—to craft intuitive, accessible, and visually compelling experiences across platforms. The role includes creating wireframes, prototypes, and user flows, conducting user research and usability testing, and ensuring designs align with the brand while championing inclusivity and accessibility. Designers also participate in stand-ups, review sessions and team syncs.
Candidate Requirements
• Years of Experience Required: 5-7 overall years of experience in the field.
• Degrees or certifications required: Master’s degree in a related field with at least 4 years of product or service design experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 5+ years of experience.
Disqualifiers: Candidates MUST be submitted with a portfolio or examples of previous work.
Best vs. Average: Significant previous gaming industry experience, and a stellar portfolio described below. The ideal background for a Designer typically includes a formal education in design disciplines such as Industrial Design, Product Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or UX, paired with several years of experience creating user-centered products for consumer-facing platforms. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in UI/UX principles, interaction, and visual design, and have a strong portfolio showcasing mobile-first and responsive work. Familiarity with gaming industry trends, accessibility standards, and player engagement strategies is highly valued, along with proficiency in tools like Figma, Protopie, After Effects, and Illustrator, as well as emerging AI-powered productivity tools. Strong collaboration and communication skills, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to simplify complex problems through elegant design solutions are essential for success in this role.
Performance Indicators:
- Delivery and Impact
Performance is assessed by the results delivered against agreed goals, such as successful product launches, measurable improvements in user experience, and business impact (e.g., conversion rates, revenue uplift, or engagement metrics). Designers are expected to contribute to OKRs, validate hypotheses through experimentation, and ensure timely execution of design deliverables across ideation, prototyping, and release phases.
- Quality of Work
Quality is measured through user experience validation, accessibility compliance, and customer satisfaction indicators like Net Promoter Score (NPS) and playtest feedback. Teams also track design craft through usability reviews, cross-device consistency, and adherence to brand principles. Continuous iteration and refinement based on player insights and experimentation results are key markers of excellence.
- Collaboration and Behaviors
Designers are evaluated on how they work—collaborating effectively with PMs, engineers, and researchers, fostering a growth mindset, and contributing to team health. Acting on feedback, mentoring peers, and driving cross-functional alignment are critical behaviors. Cultural principles like candor, continuous improvement, and collective ownership underpin these expectations.
Top 3 Hard Skills Required + Years of Experience
- Advanced Design Education and Experience – Master’s degree with at least 4 years of product or service design experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience.
- Proficiency in Design and Prototyping Tools – 3–5 years of experience using Figma, and other similar UI/UX design tools.
- Expertise in Web UX and Responsive Design – 2–3 years of experience in responsive web design, including strong knowledge of layout systems, interaction patterns, and performance considerations for modern web platforms.
Portfolio: The best portfolio is a mix of real shipped work (important we see things they were able to realize), and hopefully some self-driven initiated projects that challenged the designer on a unique passion or pushed themselves for personal growth. The best portfolio also has a good balance of more analytical/technical/scientific thinking in their work presentation balanced well with visual fidelity of interface design. Sometimes a port sways too far in one direction or another, the team wants to see experience with both. Another highlight is previous experience in the gaming industry, and some dynamic interfaces. The team is looking for quality over quantity.
Salary Range: $1,14,400 - 1,24,800 Annually - Factors that may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
Benefits: The Company offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements: [medical insurance] [dental insurance] [vision insurance] [09-10 days/hours of paid time off]
