About The Company

Founded in 2013, Block has revolutionized the financial technology landscape with innovative solutions aimed at increasing access to the global economy. Starting with the Cash App, a peer-to-peer payment platform, the company has expanded into a comprehensive ecosystem offering a variety of financial products including Afterpay/Clearpay, TIDAL, Bitkey, and Proto. Block’s mission is to redefine the world’s relationship with money by making financial services more relatable, instantly available, and universally accessible. With a workforce of thousands operating globally across both office and remote locations, Block fosters a culture of innovation, collaboration, and impact. The company is committed to building an inclusive economy and values diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of its operations.

About The Role

The Trust Design team at Block is responsible for shaping the systems that make Cash App safe, transparent, and accessible. As a Principal Product Designer, you will lead the design of AI-native experiences that define how trust, access, and identity are managed across the Cash App ecosystem. Your focus will be on exploring how large language models (LLMs), automation, and intelligent systems can enhance user confidence by reducing friction, strengthening safety, and maintaining clarity and control. You will collaborate closely with product, engineering, and machine learning teams to translate complex risk and compliance logic into intuitive, human-centered experiences. Your role will involve prototyping AI-powered interfaces, designing identity verification journeys, and contributing to the strategic evolution of trust infrastructure. Additionally, you will mentor and coach other designers, elevating the overall quality of design and fostering a culture of systems thinking, visual excellence, and high-impact execution.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in product or UX design
  • Proven expertise in designing for AI-driven or automated systems, with an understanding of context, prediction, and user control
  • Mastery in interaction, visual, and systems design, with a strong portfolio demonstrating high-impact work
  • Fluency in LLMs and agentic workflows, with curiosity about AI’s influence on product design
  • Exceptional storytelling and cross-functional communication skills
  • A growth mindset—curious, experimental, and adaptable to emerging tools and paradigms

Responsibilities

  • Design experiences that instill confidence and clarity, balancing customer safety, access, and autonomy
  • Create AI-native experiences by designing for LLMs, automation, and context-aware systems, translating their capabilities into intuitive products
  • Think systemically across complex domains such as risk, identity, and security, ensuring coherence across multi-surface ecosystems
  • Deliver high-quality design work with attention to detail, including motion, hierarchy, and scalability across platforms
  • Mentor and inspire other designers through critique, modeling best practices, and instilling scalable design principles
  • Collaborate with product, ML, data, and engineering teams to deliver tangible outcomes that impact users and the business

Benefits

  • Remote work opportunities and flexible work arrangements
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans
  • Retirement savings plans with company contributions
  • Generous paid time off and holidays
  • Support for family planning and parental leave
  • Professional development programs and continuous learning opportunities
  • Inclusive and diverse workplace culture that promotes growth and innovation
