Note: This is a revenue share position, compensation will be based on revenue sharing, rather than an upfront salary.
Job Description:
As a Senior Technical Artist, you will be the vital link between our artistic vision and technical execution. Your role is to ensure that 3D assets, VFX, and animations are not just integrated, but optimized and visually elevated within Unity.
We need a specialist who can breathe life into stylized environments through custom shaders and build the tools & rigs, necessary to make our development process smarter and faster. You will have the autonomy to define our technical art standards, ensuring our "AA indie" visuals run flawlessly while empowering the team with efficient workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain high-quality stylized shaders using Shader Graph or HLSL to define the game's atmosphere and cooking effects.
- Build custom Unity editor tools and C# extensions to automate repetitive art tasks and streamline the production pipeline.
- Architect the seamless integration and setup of 3D assets, prefabs, and animations inside the engine.
- Mastermind optimization workflows including draw call management, texture batching, and memory profiling for a high-end PC experience.
- Implement and tune technical environment systems such as LODs, light baking, occlusion culling, and colliders.
- Collaborate across departments to solve complex implementation hurdles and ensure fluid visual feedback for player and NPC interactions.
- Maintain a rigorous balance between high visual density and technical performance within Unity.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Technical Artist in Unity with a strong focus on Integration, Optimization and Tooling.
- Proficiency in C# for Unity editor scripting and pipeline automation.
- Strong expertise in Shader Graph or HLSL/ShaderLab.
- Mastery of Unity’s rendering pipelines, prefab systems, and performance profiling tools.
- Hands-on experience with Unity’s VFX Graph or Particle Systems.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with technical challenges unique to multiplayer or co-op gameplay.
- Familiarity with Python for external DCC tool automation (Blender, etc.).
