Job Description

Posted on: January 14, 2026

Location: UK (Remote)

We’re looking for a Product Design Engineer who thrives in a fast–paced, hands–on environment and loves taking physical products from idea through to manufacture. You’ll join a collaborative product and design team, where you’ll take ownership of individual projects while working closely with other designers, product managers, engineers and cross–functional partners.

The ideal candidate brings strong Design for Manufacture (DFM) experience, proven expertise in injection moulded components, and is comfortable designing products that integrate electronics. You take responsibility for your projects, communicate clearly, and enjoy working with others to deliver high–quality, manufacturable medical devices and products.

What You’ll Do

  • Take ownership of individual product design projects, from early concept through to manufacture.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary design and product team, collaborating closely with engineering, quality, regulatory, operations and manufacturing partners.
  • Lead Design for Manufacture (DFM) activities on your projects, ensuring designs are optimised for injection moulding and production at scale.
  • Design components and assemblies using 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred), producing production-ready models and drawings.
  • Work confidently within SolidWorks PDM, maintaining clean and well-structured CAD data.
  • If required, design mechanical systems and casings for products that contain electronics, working alongside electrical and firmware engineers.
  • Build, test and iterate prototypes to inform design decisions.
  • Apply analysis tools (including FEA where appropriate) to validate designs.
  • Engage directly with suppliers and manufacturing partners to refine designs and resolve manufacturing challenges.
  • Source off the shelf products and materials required in the design.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation including technical drawings, BOMs, product specifications and design/engineering change notes.
  • Create and maintain product documentation that supports audits and regulatory submissions.
  • Deliver your design milestones on time, balancing quality, speed and pragmatism.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience owning design projects through to manufacture.
  • Proven experience with human factors engineering and designing with your user in mind.
  • Strong experience in Design for Manufacture (DFM) and designing injection moulded components.
  • Experience designing products that are manufactured, assembled and serviced at scale.
  • Fluency in 3D CAD – SolidWorks preferred.
  • Experience using SolidWorks PDM or similar PLM/PDM systems.
  • Comfortable sketching and communicating ideas visually.
  • Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite and experience with digital design.
  • Experience working with products that include electronics (PCBs, batteries, wiring, sensors, antennas, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including injection moulding, vacuum casting and metal fabrication.
  • Clear verbal, written and visual communication skills.
  • A pragmatic, evidence-based approach to product decision making.
  • Experience working to recognised quality standards (ISO9001 / ISO13485 preferred).
  • Ability to build a working understanding of healthcare.
  • Experience with biocompatibility testing standards would be preferred, but not essential

You’ll Fit Here If You

  • Enjoy owning design work end-to-end while collaborating closely with others.
  • Like working in a team where feedback and iteration are part of the process.
  • Care deeply about manufacturability, quality and detail.
  • Enjoy hands-on prototyping and learning through making.
  • Are comfortable balancing autonomy with collaboration.
  • Value transparency, curiosity and continuous improvement.

Why You’ll Love It Here

Current Health is a purpose-driven business focused on a high-impact corner of healthcare. We’re working at the intersection of advanced therapeutic breakthroughs and how those breakthroughs reach patients in the real world.

We’re a small, collaborative team with a strong commitment to transparency, and we’ve built an environment where your voice matters. In this role, you’ll have real ownership and impact – contributing to a shared design vision while leading your own projects through to manufacture.

This role offers exposure to leadership, visibility across the business, and opportunities to learn and grow. You’ll receive a competitive salary, benefits, and the chance to build meaningful products within a purpose-driven company.
