Title: UX Product Designer Location: Remote Job Type: Contract (12 Months) Compensation: $56.39 - $67.66/hr Industry: Retail About The Role Our client, a major national retailer with a large-scale digital and operational ecosystem, is seeking a UX Product Designer to join their Business Partner Experience (BPX) team. This team is focused on designing digital experiences that make it easier for the company's business partners to launch, manage, and grow their business within the retailer's ecosystem. This role is ideal for a hands-on designer with a strong bias for action, advanced rapid prototyping skills, and the confidence to move from discovery through delivery within a defined product area or initiative. You will work across complex enterprise systems, operational workflows, and cross-functional teams to simplify critical business partner experiences such as onboarding, item setup, orders, shipments, support, payments, issue resolution, and growth planning. The ideal candidate is a strong design generalist with a service design mindset — someone who can understand complex workflows, identify user pain points, make sense of operational dependencies, and translate ambiguity into clear, usable product experiences. This person should be curious about agentic AI, A2UI, automation, AI-driven interfaces, and guided workflow experiences, while staying grounded in practical user needs, responsible design, and measurable business outcomes. A portfolio is required with your application. Job Description As a UX Product Designer on the BPX team, you will design end-to-end digital experiences that simplify how business partners interact with the retailer's enterprise platforms. You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Research, Data, Operations, and Business teams to deliver thoughtful, scalable design solutions across a wide range of partner-facing workflows. Core Responsibilities Include

  • Product & Experience Design: Translate user problems and business goals into clear, actionable design solutions. Create flows, interaction patterns, prototypes, and delivery-ready designs that help the team validate direction, make informed tradeoffs, and deliver value over time.
  • Service Design & Systems Thinking: Contribute to journey maps, service moments, operational dependency maps, and cross-system workflow analysis. Identify opportunities to simplify workflows, reduce handoffs, improve autonomy, and create clearer paths to resolution.
  • Discovery Through Delivery: Independently drive design work for assigned initiatives from early problem framing through execution, including concept development, prototyping, usability testing, design iteration, detailed UX/UI design, and delivery partnership with Product and Engineering.
  • Rapid Prototyping & Visiontyping: Create prototypes that make ideas tangible for users, product teams, engineering, and leaders. Use prototypes to accelerate learning, clarify design intent, de-risk decisions, and build alignment through a "demos, not memos" way of working.
  • Agentic AI & A2UI Experience Design: Explore how AI, automation, agentic workflows, and A2UI experiences can help users complete work faster, understand next steps, prevent errors, and reduce manual effort. Design AI-enabled interactions that are transparent, explainable, useful, and user-controlled.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Research, Data, Operations, Business, and Design teams across geographies. Contribute to alignment by communicating design rationale, surfacing tradeoffs, and incorporating input from partners with different goals and constraints.

In this role, you will help make BPX a clearer, more guided, and more self-service experience for the retailer's business partners. Your work will focus on reducing friction in critical workflows, increasing partner autonomy, improving speed to market, and helping the team deliver against meaningful user problems and business outcomes. QualificationsRequired Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of UX/Product Design experience delivering digital products from discovery through delivery.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design, including user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and production-ready UI (portfolio required with application).
  • Experience designing enterprise applications, B2B products, internal tools, or workflow-driven software.
  • Proven ability to simplify complex user problems into intuitive, scalable experiences.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including Product Management, Engineering, Research, and Business stakeholders.
  • Advanced proficiency with Figma, including high-fidelity UI design, prototyping, and design systems.
  • Strong interaction design, information architecture, and usability best practices.
  • Experience conducting or supporting discovery activities, usability testing, and design iteration.
  • Ability to independently manage design work across multiple phases of the product lifecycle.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.
  • Experience balancing user needs, technical feasibility, and business goals when making design decisions.
  • Working knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design practices.
  • Comfortable designing for data-rich applications, operational workflows, and evolving platform capabilities.
  • Bias for action with a strong prototyping mindset.
  • Systems thinker who can navigate complex workflows and cross-functional dependencies.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity and iterating based on user feedback.
  • Collaborative partner who communicates design rationale effectively across disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with service design methods such as journey mapping or service blueprinting.
  • Experience designing marketplace, retail, supply chain, or other enterprise operational platforms.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled workflows, intelligent automation, guided user experiences, or emerging interaction patterns.
  • Experience contributing to enterprise design systems.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted design tools, including newer Figma capabilities.
  • Curiosity about emerging UX patterns and AI technologies while remaining focused on practical user outcomes.
