About the John Locke Institute

The John Locke Institute is an independent educational organisation dedicated to inspiring and equipping exceptional students for academic and intellectual success. Through our prestigious summer schools, essay competitions, and residential courses in Oxford, Princeton, Georgetown, Singapore, Nanjing, Dubai, and Hong Kong, we cultivate a rigorous learning environment that fosters critical thinking, intellectual humility, and open-minded discourse.

Our programmes bring together talented students and distinguished faculty, offering a unique platform for academic challenge and personal growth. By engaging with complex ideas and refining their reasoning skills, students develop the confidence to excel in their academic and professional journeys.

Position Summary

The Wix Website Developer will support the maintenance, enhancement, and day-to-day management of the John Locke Institute’s website, which is built on the Wix platform. The role is responsible for implementing website updates, creating and optimising pages for academic programmes and events, and ensuring the site remains accurate, functional, and aligned with the Institute’s brand and marketing objectives.

Working closely with internal teams such as marketing, admissions, and programme management, the Wix Web Developer will publish content updates, improve user experience, and help ensure the website effectively communicates the Institute’s educational offerings to a global audience.

This is a short-term contract role suited to an experienced Wix specialist who can work independently, respond quickly to update requests, and deliver high-quality website improvements.

  • Manage site structure, navigation, and page layouts to ensure a clear and intuitive user experience.
  • Support integration and maintenance of forms, applications, and email capture tools.
  • Ensure the website functions smoothly across desktop and mobile devices.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders (marketing, admissions, programme teams) to publish updates and announcements.
  • Monitor website performance and implement improvements related to SEO, loading speed, and usability.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues within Wix and implement fixes where possible.
  • Maintain brand consistency, visual quality, and editorial standards across the site.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience building and managing websites using Wix (including Wix Editor and/or Wix Studio).
  • Demonstrable portfolio of Wix websites or landing pages.
  • Experience maintaining content-heavy websites (education, programmes, or marketing sites preferred).
  • Familiarity with CMS management, form integrations, and email marketing tools.
  • Basic knowledge of SEO best practices and web performance optimisation.
  • Experience working with marketing or admissions teams is desirable.
  • Ability to work independently on short-term or contract assignments.

Skills & Attributes for Success

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high editorial and visual standards.
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently on content updates and website improvements.
  • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple updates or requests.
  • Problem-solving mindset and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Understanding of user experience and conversion-focused design.
