Strategy & New Business Lead, Sparo Studios. Australia, remote-flexible.

A senior role for a strategist who can lead the brand and marketing conversations our clients come to us for, then convert that thinking into pitches worth winning. Remote, aligned to AEST.

At Sparo, we've built a team of people who genuinely care about what they create and the clients they work with. While our HQ is in Australia, our team spans Australia and NZ. We design intentional, immersive brands and websites, and we're growing the team to bring in a senior strategist who can lead client conversations from first call through to signed pitch.

Your Mission:

Lead the strategic conversations clients come to Sparo for, then turn those conversations into pitches that close. You're the first human touchpoint for new business, but the value you bring shows up before the pitch deck does. You'll sit in discovery, surface what's really going on inside a client's brand and marketing, and give them a clear point of view on what they need before we scope a thing.

From there, you'll shape the pitch with the team. Sparo's projects range from $20k starter scopes through to multi-phase engagements north of $250k, and the depth of strategy you bring on the call directly shapes which one we're proposing. You'll own your pipeline week to week. Track performance, manage your calendar, follow up with intention, and convert aligned leads into clients.

What this will involve:

  • Lead strategic discovery calls with founders and senior decision-makers. Positioning, value propositions, audience, market context, and where marketing strategy fits in.
  • Translate that thinking into a clear, written point of view that becomes the spine of the pitch.
  • Build multi-phase proposals and pitch decks that reflect the strategic depth of the work, scaled from $20k through $250k+ engagements.
  • Own inbound enquiries end-to-end, from first response through to qualification and triage.
  • Build and maintain a healthy outbound pipeline through targeted outreach, LinkedIn engagement, networking, and intermediary relationships.
  • Identify and qualify prospective clients aligned with Sparo's positioning: founder-led businesses, growth-stage brands, and organisations ready to invest in brand and web work.
  • Close with clean scopes, clear expectations, and no over-promising.
  • Run a smooth handover to the project team after contract signature, with full strategic context intact.

And you are:

  • A strategist first. You can sit in a discovery call and lead credibly on positioning, value propositions, audience, customer journeys, brand architecture, and where marketing strategy connects. You bring a point of view, not a script.
  • Experienced in selling strategic creative work. 4+ years inside a brand, creative, or digital agency, closing projects directly with founders and senior decision-makers. Comfortable scoping anything from a $20k engagement up to $250k+ multi-phase work.
  • A pitch builder. You've written and shaped proposals and decks from scratch, sized to the depth of the work. You've stood in a pitch room and held it without leaning on a price tag.
  • Available and reliable. Willing to work 35+ hours per week, aligned to AEST.

  • Offer competitive pay. A base of $80,000 to $90,000 plus commission, with a guaranteed ramp during onboarding.
