We are looking for a UX Designer to lead the end-to-end design process, creating user-centered digital services that meet Government Digital Service (GDS) and DfE standards. You will turn complex user and business problems into clear prototypes, working alongside cross-functional teams to deliver an MVP for government client.
Key Responsibilities
- Ideation and Co-Design: Facilitate collaborative workshops with stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams (BAs, Developers, and UCD) to generate solutions that meet both end-users.
- Prototyping and Testing: Build interactive, dynamic prototypes (including code-based) at the right fidelity to test hypotheses, iterate efficiently, and provide maximum value for money.
- Research Integration: Partner closely with user researchers to test core assumptions, manage design risks, and gather feedback through 1-to-1 engagements, co-design sessions, and consultations.
- Design System and Standards: Apply and contribute to existing GDS and departmental design components, patterns, and style guides, ensuring full compliance with service standards. Document clear rationales whenever custom patterns are required.
- Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic direction on design tools and cross-channel methods, guiding team decision-making and ensuring design choices remain aligned with user needs.
- Proven experience using GDS and departmental design systems.
- Working within central government clients
- Strong skills in dynamic and coded prototyping.
- Expertise in leading collaborative design workshops and stakeholder engagement.
- Deep understanding of agile delivery, working alongside BAs and developers to define MVP requirements.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to manage design risks, validate assumptions, and apply a robust digital approach to complex service design.
- Working in a Central government clients.
