About the Opportunity
We are preparing to launch a new SaaS product and are looking for an experienced UI/UX Consultant to help take the product through its final stages of design refinement and commercial launch.
The core product and functionality have already been developed. We are now looking for someone who can bring a high level of UX thinking, visual polish and product design expertise to ensure the overall experience is intuitive, consistent and professional.
The platform includes a number of sophisticated workflows and features, so a key part of the role will be simplifying complexity and making the product feel easy, intuitive and enjoyable to use.
You will work closely with a small, fast-moving product and development team and will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the product immediately before launch.
What You'll Do
- Conduct a comprehensive UX/UI review of the existing SaaS application.
- Identify usability issues, friction points and opportunities to improve the user experience.
- Review and optimise key user journeys, from onboarding and initial setup through to ongoing product use.
- Improve information architecture, navigation and workflow clarity.
- Refine the visual design and establish a consistent, professional design language across the platform.
- Develop and improve UI components, layouts and reusable design patterns.
- Create wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity designs where required.
- Work closely with developers to ensure designs are practical and can be implemented effectively.
- Help establish a scalable design system and reusable component library.
- Provide practical recommendations around usability, accessibility, responsiveness and conversion.
- Review implementation and provide feedback to help maintain design quality.
- Help ensure the product is commercially launch-ready from a UX/UI perspective.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who combines strong UX and product thinking with excellent UI design skills. Ideally, you will have:
- Proven experience designing SaaS or web-based software products.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality UI/UX work.
- Experience with complex B2B, workflow-based or enterprise-style applications.
- Strong knowledge of user journeys, information architecture, interaction design and usability principles.
- Excellent visual design skills and strong attention to detail.
- Advanced experience with Figma and modern design systems.
- Experience creating scalable component libraries and reusable design patterns.
- Experience collaborating directly with software developers.
- The ability to review an existing product and quickly identify where improvements will have the greatest impact.
- A practical and commercial approach to design rather than focusing purely on aesthetics.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly explain the reasoning behind design decisions.
The Ideal Person
The ideal consultant will be someone who can look at an existing product and say: "I understand what you're trying to achieve, I can see where users may struggle, and I know how to make this significantly better."
You should be comfortable working independently, challenging existing design decisions where appropriate, making clear recommendations and taking ownership of the UX/UI improvement process.
We are particularly interested in someone who has experience taking a SaaS product from near-completion through to a polished commercial launch.
This role would suit someone who enjoys getting hands-on with an existing product rather than starting with a blank canvas.
Engagement
This is initially a project-based consulting engagement, with the potential for ongoing work as the product evolves.
The exact scope, hours and structure can be discussed based on experience and availability.
