Freelance Animator - Part time

This part-time contract role is ideal for a skilled animator passionate about creating engaging 2D character animations for children’s museum content. You will be responsible for transforming creative concepts into high-quality, polished animations that capture the imagination of young audiences. Working remotely, you will collaborate closely with art directors to ensure a consistent 'museum + tech' visual style, utilizing advanced rigging tools and motion graphics techniques. The position requires a strong sense of visual storytelling, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver on a set schedule. Deliverables

• Produce clean, high-quality 2D character animations for children’s museum video projects
• Utilize rigging tools such as DuIK and Joysticks to create smooth, expressive motion
• Develop and refine vector-based motion graphics in After Effects
• Prepare and organize animation assets for efficient workflow
• Collaborate with art directors to maintain a cohesive visual style
• Create simple storyboards or animatics as needed to communicate animation concepts
• Deliver final animations according to project timelines and specifications

Requirements

• Proven experience in 2D character animation and motion graphics, preferably for educational or children’s content
• Proficiency in Adobe After Effects, including rigging tools like DuIK and Joysticks
• Strong understanding of vector animation and asset preparation
• Ability to interpret creative briefs and translate them into engaging visual stories
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for remote teamwork
• Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
• Experience developing storyboards or animatics is a plus
• Reliable internet connection and availability for part-time, contract-based work
