Freelance Clothes Designer – Textile Production

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented designer with experience in textile or apparel production, particularly in creating technical patterns for manufacturing. You will be working with a west-coast Ireland performance sock brand focused on endurance sport and understated design. For the first product drop, the pattern direction is already established, and your primary responsibility will be to refine provided reference materials and deliver final technical files ready for manufacture. The project centers on a bathymetric/marine chart motif, and you will be expected to work within defined parameters, making minor improvements as needed rather than providing open-ended creative input. There is potential for ongoing collaboration on future releases if this initial project is successful. Deliverables

• Refine existing reference materials and produce a final vector repeat pattern in Adobe Illustrator format, adhering to manufacturer specifications.
• Map a CMYK palette to the agreed colourways for the sock design.
• Prepare and deliver manufacturer-ready files, ensuring all technical requirements are met.
• Make minor improvements to the pattern if necessary, while maintaining alignment with the approved direction.
• Communicate effectively to clarify technical requirements and ensure timely delivery.

Requirements

• Proven portfolio demonstrating experience in textile or apparel production, with a focus on technical pattern creation.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, especially in creating vector repeat patterns.
• Strong understanding of CMYK color mapping and file preparation for manufacturing.
• Ability to work within established design parameters and follow detailed specifications.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality, production-ready files.
