Freelance Illustrator – Graphic Novel Project

This role involves illustrating a 60-page, full-color graphic novel depicting the life of Saint Benedict of Nursia. The illustrator will be responsible for transforming provided text, dialogues, and detailed scene descriptions into engaging visual narratives suitable for both print and e-book formats. The project requires a narrative-driven approach, with careful attention to page layout, character design, and color work. The illustrator will also be tasked with placing speech bubbles according to the supplied script and making standard corrections based on feedback. Exclusive rights of use for both print and digital formats are required. The project is scheduled to run from March 2026 to June 2027, with confirmation of commission dependent on funding. Responsibilities

• Create high-quality, full-color illustrations for a 60-page graphic novel
• Interpret detailed scene descriptions and dialogues into compelling visual storytelling
• Design page layouts, characters, and backgrounds in a consistent narrative style
• Place speech bubbles and text as per the provided script
• Collaborate on revisions and implement standard correction rounds for layout and minor adjustments
• Prepare artwork for both print and digital publication formats
• Ensure timely delivery of all project milestones within the agreed timeline

Skills And Requirements

• Proven experience in comic or graphic novel illustration, with a strong portfolio demonstrating narrative storytelling
• Proficiency in digital illustration tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, or equivalent
• Ability to work from detailed briefs and adapt to specific artistic directions
• Strong understanding of page composition, color theory, and sequential art
• Experience preparing files for print and digital distribution
• Excellent communication skills and responsiveness to feedback
• Availability to commit to the project timeline from March 2026 to June 2027
