CAD Technician III - Remote (U.S.)

2. About the Opportunity:

The CAD Technician III role supports the Power Delivery Team by performing technical design tasks for electrical infrastructure projects. The position is responsible for producing and managing detailed electrical CAD and BIM models for high and medium voltage systems. This role ensures accurate, code-compliant construction drawings and 3D models that support project execution and engineering design. By maintaining collaboration with engineers and managing design documentation, the technician contributes to the successful development and modernization of energy infrastructure.

3. Responsibilities:

• Create and maintain electrical design sets by incorporating engineering markups into CAD drawings

• Produce detailed electrical construction drawings including plans, sections, elevations, diagrams, and schematics using AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or Revit

• Develop and manage 3D electrical system models including equipment layouts and conduit routing

• Revise drawings based on engineering feedback, RFIs, change orders, and site markups

• Ensure all drawings comply with client standards, codes, and industry practices

• Maintain version control and file management of CAD and 3D model data throughout projects

• Coordinate with engineering staff to resolve design conflicts and maintain model integrity

• Perform quality control through self-checks and peer reviews for accuracy and constructability

• Provide technical support on CAD standards, 3D modeling, and software troubleshooting

• Stay updated on CAD/BIM software features and drafting techniques through ongoing learning

4. Requirements:

• High School Diploma with at least 2 years of relevant electrical CAD design experience

• Experience in high voltage electrical CAD design

• Familiarity with National Electric Code and related standards

• Proficiency with Autodesk 2D and 3D software packages

• Experience with Bentley MicroStation preferred

• Experience in 3D modeling software such as Civil 3D or Revit

• Experience working in collaborative modeling environments (e.g., Navisworks, Revizto)

• Knowledge of Common Data Environments like ProjectWise and Autodesk Construction Cloud

• Understanding of vendor documentation for electrical design tasks

• Exposure to substation equipment and layout design

Preferred:

• BA/BS or AA/AS degree with 4 years of relevant experience

• Experience participating in complex, multi-discipline CAD projects
