Electrical CAD/BIM Technician - Remote (U.S.)

2. About the Opportunity:

The Electrical CAD/BIM Technician role supports the Power Delivery Team by performing technical design tasks on high and medium voltage projects. This position contributes to the development and maintenance of electrical design sets and 3D models for projects including substations, transmission lines, distributed generation, and renewable energy installations. The role is essential for ensuring accuracy, compliance, and constructability of electrical drawings and models, directly impacting the successful delivery of infrastructure projects. The job offers flexibility to work remotely or from various offices across the United States.

3. Responsibilities

• Create and maintain electrical design sets by incorporating engineering markups into CAD drawings

• Produce accurate electrical construction drawings including plans, sections, elevations, details, schedules, diagrams, and schematics using AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or Revit

• Develop and manage 3D models for electrical equipment layouts, conduit routing, and cable tray systems

• Revise drawings based on engineering feedback, RFIs, change orders, and construction site markups

• Ensure drawings comply with drafting standards, client requirements, codes, and industry best practices (NEC, IEEE)

• Maintain version control and file management of CAD and 3D model files throughout projects

• Coordinate with engineering and project teams to resolve design conflicts and maintain model integrity

• Perform quality control through self-checks and peer reviews to assure drawing accuracy and constructability

• Provide technical support on CAD standards, 3D modeling, and software troubleshooting

• Stay updated on CAD/BIM software features, symbology, and drafting techniques through training and self-development

4. Requirements:

• High School Diploma and 4 years of relevant experience in high voltage electrical CAD design

• Preferred: BA/BS or AA/AS degree with 4 years of relevant experience

• Experience participating in complex, multi-discipline programs and CAD teams

• Familiarity with the National Electric Code and other applicable codes

• Proficiency with Autodesk 2D and 3D software

• Experience with Bentley MicroStation preferred

• Skilled in 3D modeling environments such as Civil 3D or Revit

• Experience in collaborative model environments (e.g., Navisworks, Revizto)

• Knowledge of managing Common Data Environments including ProjectWise and Autodesk Construction Cloud

• Ability to interpret vendor documentation for assigned tasks

• Exposure to substation equipment, layouts, and designs
