Part-Time Project Manager, Retail Skincare Product DevelopmentJob Overview:
We’re looking for a strategic, marketing-savvy Project Manager to help bring our skincare products to life. In this flexible, part-time, remote role, you will drive the coordination and execution of new product launches—from managing labs and packaging vendors to aligning branding and messaging with our marketing team. Streamlining workflows, distilling feedback, and maintaining brand cohesion will directly impact our go-to-market success. This role has strong potential to expand into a larger leadership position.
Due to the intermittent nature of product development, the role is expected to average around 20 hours per week, although there may be periods with less intensive activity. Highly organized and efficient professionals could complete responsibilities in considerably less time, making this ideal for individuals adept at managing variable workloads and coordinating multiple stakeholders.
Candidates be available during 4 East Coast business hours per day, willing to sign a strict NDA, and must not concurrently work for a direct competitor.
Primary Responsibilities:Product Development Coordination:
- Organize executive team’s vision and priorities for product development.
- Receive product samples from labs, distribute to the testing team, consolidate feedback, and prepare comprehensive feedback summaries.
- Communicate team feedback effectively to labs for product adjustments.
Packaging and Branding Management:
- Collaborate with design teams to develop primary and secondary packaging that aligns with brand identity.
- Develop packaging copy, coordinating occasionally with copywriters for fine-tuning.
- Work closely with primary component manufacturers on sourcing, designing, and printing components.
- Manage sourcing, design, and printing of secondary cartons.
- Develop and oversee branding guidelines to ensure consistent brand presentation.
- Align packaging and marketing copy to strategically position products in the marketplace.
Logistics and Inventory Management:
- Coordinate shipping of primary components, secondary components, and finished products to their final destinations.
- Handle all shipping logistics, including tariffs, customs procedures, and comprehensive cost management.
- Assist with logistics and inventory management at the in-house inventory center.
- Provide third-party sales teams with necessary supplies for success.
Project Planning and Documentation:
- Develop and maintain a detailed project plan outlining milestones, deadlines, and dependencies.
- Proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks to maintain project timelines.
- Organize and maintain a central repository for all development documents, vendor specifications, and creative assets.
- Manage version control for documents including product briefs, copy, and packaging dielines.
Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance:
- Coordinate final formulation, packaging reviews, and product QA processes before mass production.
- Ensure products and packaging meet U.S. FDA cosmetic regulations, including proper INCI listings and claims.
- Liaise with regulatory consultants to maintain compliance standards.
Vendor and Financial Management:
- Track vendor costs, manage purchase orders, and verify invoices against agreed terms.
Cross-Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with e-commerce and marketing teams to ensure accurate and timely product launch preparation.
- Provide finalized product details, SKU information, and visual assets for digital and physical channels.
- Serve as the main point of contact for internal teams and external vendors.
Communication:
- Lead bi-weekly meetings with the executive team to review project status.
- Provide bi-weekly project updates summarizing key developments, milestones, and risks.
Digital Accounts Oversight:
- Oversee relationship and supply needs with Amazon agency.
- Manage and oversee Amazon account.
- Oversee Meta account management.
Future Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the Head of Marketing on broader strategic brand vision initiatives, to be detailed upon successful delivery of initial product lines.
Key Requirements:
- Required experience in beauty/skincare product development.
- Skilled in managing multiple vendors, timelines, and iterative feedback loops.
- Availability of approximately 20 hours per week during East Coast business hours.
- Must be U.S.-based, willing to sign NDA and non-compete agreements.
