The role of Designer, Social Media would report to the Senior Visuals Director, and shape the visual expression of New York and its six component networks/brands on social networks. The person in this role will contribute support to the promotion of editorial material through social media, mainly Instagram. The New York brand includes the groundbreaking magazine New York, which is published biweekly in print, and six thriving verticals: Intelligencer, delivering national news and sharp commentary on politics, business, technology, and media; the Cut, covering the conversations that matter most to women today; Vulture, the premier destination for culture news, criticism, and service; the Strategist, dedicated to shopping the internet smartly; Curbed, covering cities and city life; and Grub Street, home to food news and authoritative restaurant criticism. What You’ll Do Under the guidance of the Senior Visuals Director, (and with design direction from other senior staff) the Designer, Social Media will have the following responsibilities:
- Maintain digital brand visual style guides for social assets
- Create replicable templates using Creative Cloud and Figma
- Translate our print articles and editorial packages for promotion on social media
- Edit short-form video content
- Create GIFs, short animations and motion graphics for web and social media
- Develop mood boards or decks for visual treatment concepts for new projects or editorial refreshes
- Work closely with the social media editors on strategy
- Keep up-to-date with visual trends in the social media space.
Who You Are
- Knowledge of current visual trends in the social media space
- Passionate about New York magazine and digital media
- Experienced editorial designer/ illustrator
- Experienced video editor
- Ability to generate, execute and iterate on ideas quickly
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in deadline driven and fast paced environment
- Comfortable working with many stakeholders and editors across several editorial teams
- Comfortable both giving and receiving feedback, and an excellent communicator
- Ambitious, organized, detail oriented and proactive
- Experience working with digital asset management systems and content management systems is a plus

PAY TRANSPARENCY The salary range listed below represents the minimum and maximum base pay for this position at the time of this posting. Final salary offered to the candidate selected for the position will be based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. Pay Range $81,765—$95,000 USD
